Election Postponement: APCs Gawuna Remains Focused, Steadfast And Set To Win

By Aisha Sa’ad – Kano

The postponement of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) should be seen in the above light,as it shouldn’t have happened without God’s permission.

The Electoral umpire had on Wednesday announced the postponement of the two elections from March 11,2023 to March 18,2023 to enable it to reconfigure the BVAS machine to be used for the conduct of the polls.

The decision came after the commission obtained permission from the Presidential Elections Petitions Court to that effect.

It is noteworthy that the postponement caught many stakeholders in the governorship and house of assembly polls unawares, nationwide, and probably disrupted their plans and strategies for the exercise earlier billed to materialise on March 11,2023.

But the development may well turn out to be a blessing, for it may afford the candidates, voters and other stakeholders in the elections, the opportunity to re-plan and re-strategise ahead of the rescheduled polls.

Similarly, tension seems to have eased at least in the last 24 hours since the announcement of the postponement was made, with the stakeholders now slowing down on their activities, temporarily.

Meanwhile, the APC Governorship Candidate in Kano State,Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has remained focused and calm in the wake of the election postponement.

The APC Standard Flagbearer and his Running Mate,Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, have remained resolutely steadfast and determined to secure the mandate of the good people of Kano State to enable them to consolidate on achievements of the Ganduje Administration in the State, come March 18.

The candidates are confident of a resounding victory on that day, riding on their impressive records of performance both in public and private sectors, which they have acquired over the years.

I remember Dr.Nasiru Gawuna telling the people during his statewide governorship campaign tours that power belongs to Allah(SWT) and that He gives it to whoever He so wishes and whenever He so wishes.

I also recall how he expressed confidence before the gatherings that he would,by the grace of Allah(SWT),win the forthcoming governorship election peacefully and convincingly, urging them to pray for a peaceful conduct of the poll.

During the statewide campaign visits ably steered by His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the people received the message of peace, progress, growth, development and continuity as delivered by the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council.

And in all the areas visited, the people affirmed that they would vote massively to elect Dr.Nasiru Gawuna and his Running Mate,Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, to enable them to sustain the laudable programmes of the APC-led administration in the state.

The postponement of the election in my opinion, will give the electorate more time to further digest the Gawuna/Garo campaign messages which they had assimilated for many months past.

Before the INEC decision, also, the people of the state were already in the mood to elect the APC Standard Flagbearer to become the next Governor of the state.

Moreover, the postponement of the election can only further strengthen the people’s resolve to do the needful – elect Gawuna and Garo as the next Governor and Deputy Governor of Kano State.

God’s time is indeed the best.
