COAS inaugurate CIMIC projects in 3 Bauchi communities

 

 

 

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Lt.Gen Faruk Yahaya inaugurates Civil-Military Cooperation projects in three communities of Busala, Gakal and Nyamrat, Bauchi local government area of Bauchi state.

 

 

Our Correspondent reports that the projects inaugurated include a newly constructed primary healthcare center and donation of medical equipment in Busala Community.

 

 

Other projects are a newly constructed block of two classrooms and office and store room and donation of exercise books, uniforms and sports items each to Gakal and Nyamrat communities.

 

 

The COAS while inaugurating the projects on Wednesday in Bauchi, said the projects is part of his special intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects.

 

Gen Yahaya, represented by Maj Mohammmed Ahmed Commander, The Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Bauch that the civil-military cooperation scheme was initiated to provide support to communities of serving senior Nigerian Army (NA) officers across the nation,

 

 

“Who through dedication to duty and service to the nation have risen to the enviable rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army.

 

“The projects are intended to complement basic services, amenities and infrastructure to bring succor to benefiting communities.

 

He noted that some of the projects executed so far include, the construction and rehabilitation of hospitals, schools and community centers, the sinking of boreholes to provide potable water and the construction of access roads, among others.

 

 

The COAS used the opportunity to appeal to the traditional institution to galvanize support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the fight against threats to national security.

 

Earlier, Maj.Gen. Markus Kangye in charge of Directorate of Civil-Military Affairs (DCMA) explained that the project was executed in honor of Maj Gen Garba Audu of the Army Headquarter who hailed from the communities.

 

He said that the construction of the health center and classrooms was solely conceived by the executor and the people of the communities, after a thorough needs assessment.

 

Kangye explaind that Civil-Military Affairs (DCMA) was established with the responsibility of underscoring the fundamentals of Civil Military Affairs as a Strategic National Institution.

 

“Transmitting the core elements of effective civil-military relations in areas of human rights, rule of law, negotiations liaison and conflict management,” he said

 

 

Maj Gen Audu who hailed from the community appreciated COAS for the gesture, adding that the gesture would go a long way in providing good health care and effective education in the community.

 

He urged the community members to make good use of the infrastructure for maintenance and sustainability.

 

 

Earlier, Community leader Mal Sani Hassan said that the newly constructed health center and classrooms for health and education development of the community.

 

 

Sani expressed appreciation for the choice of their communities to execute the project.
