The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Mr Ameh James has called on security to work in synergy to ensure credible general elections.
James made the call in a statement signed by the Spokesman of the Command DSC Ibrahim Gabdo made available to Newsmen on Tuesday.
He called on all security and law enforcement agencies to come together and synergise to protect lives and properties as well ensure hit- free election.
“We had an Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioner Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The security agencies reiterated their commitment to finetune possible ways to give a maximum security coverage to the forthcoming general election,” he said
The Commandant said that INEC have already made every necessary arrangement to ensure credible election in the country the state
“The REC also called for the collaborative efforts of the security agencies in the state in order to achieve the desired goals.
“The synergy would be effective in the fight against any form of security threat before, during and after the elections,” he said
The Commandant urged the lead agency to be fair enough to accommodate all security agencies in both metropolitan and hinterlands for effective coverage of elections.
James also assured the state resident electoral commissioner of a holistic approach of the security architecture in the state during the election period.
He reiterated that the cruciality of the elections requires a multi-agency approach.
“Hence, it is imperative in view of election security to be on the same page by working together to avoid unnecessary ambiguity in roles and responsibilities,” the Commandant said.
He also said that the corps has partnered with journalists in the state to enlighten the electorate to be peaceful before, during and after the election.
