2023- Oba Adegoke Stresses Need For Peaceful, Free, Fair, Non – violent Elections

 

As Nigerians prepare for this year’s general elections, the Oba of Yoruba in Bauchi State, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Adegoke has stressed the need for unity of purpose, peaceful co- existence and tranquility towards ensuring a free, fair and non violent exercise.

 

He also called on Nigerians to continue to work for the unity and prosperity of the country, emphasising that all Nigerians irrespective of their ethno-religious, cultural or socio – political backgrounds must be ready to work towards consolidating on gains of democracy during and after the 2023 elections.

 

Our Correspondent reports that the Yoruba Community in Bauchi State recently held a prayer for the unity of the country, free,fair and hitch – free elections this year and peaceful co- – existence of Yorubas and other tribes across the state and Nigeria.

 

The prayers which took place at the secretariat of the community in the state capital was witnessed by a large gathering of Yoruba people from across the state.

 

Alhaji Adegoke, the Sarkin Yorubawa, Bauchi in an interview with our Correspondent Wednesday enjoined Nigerians to vote for leaders with the fear of God who have the capacity to advance the unity, growth, progress and stability of the country.

 

According to him, ” we prayed and still continue to pray for unity, peace, progress, development and growth of Bauchi State and Nigeria. We also pray for peaceful elections this year,we pray for peace and security for all Yoruba indigenes in Bauchi and other places, and we pray for tolerance, harmonious relationship and peaceful co- existence with our hosts”.

 

Oba Adegoke warned against politics of bitterness, unhealthy personality clashes and greed as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections.

 

” Let us see ourselves as Nigerians first and foremost before any other considerations.I have told my people and other Nigerians to get their PVCs,conduct themselves peacefully,go to the polling units,vote with wisdom and according to their conscience and leave God to do the rest”.
