The Association of Igbo community welfare has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of police Gombe state.
The commissioner who was delighted by the gesture said “It takes a progressive mind to stir up progressive Activities”.
The Commissioner, CP Oqua Etim made the statement when he receives the group in his office today 12th January 2023 as revealed by ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar,ANIPR, Public Relations officer Gombe State Police Command in a statement.
President of the Association Dr. Egah Wabs Onuwabuchi who spoke on behalf of the group said the Igbo community deems it fit to pay an advocacy visit to the Commissioner of Police CP Oqua Etim to identify with him and pledge their unflinching support.
The President assures the Commissioner of Police that Igbos are law abiding citizens who stand as stakeholders as a result of their numerous contribution to the development of the State.
Dr. Onuwabuchi congratulated the commissioner of Police on his new office urging him to continue taking good steps in the right direction, sighting Peace and security as two most important ingredients to spice up human existance.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police CP Oqua Etim said “I see Igbos as Ambassadors in every spheres of human endeavors because of their progressive mind”.
He said there is need for synergy between the community and Police in order to maintain the peace Gombe State have been enjoying in the north-east which can be achieve through prayers, consultation and Advocacy.
The CP further urge the Association and the entire good people of Gombe State to shun violence in the 2023 General Election, saying if people are careless with their speech, conduct, action and inaction it will cause Gombe it Peace with nowhere to run to because we are surrounded by hot zones.
The CP added ” I am proud to say that since the commencement of campaigns, no death have been recorded, only destruction of billboards and posters which has no significance or capacity of winning Elections” .
He then thank the Association for identifying with him and the gift to the command, emphasizing that his door is always open for them to feed the Police command with valid information so as to serve humanity better.
