Senator Binani reveals why she resigned as PCC Adamawa state

Senator Aishatu Binani has disclosed reason behind her resignation from her position as the Adamawa State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

According to Binani, her pending appeal over the nullification of her Governorship candidacy having emerged victorious at the APC primary was her major reason why she had to resign as the State Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council of the Party.

She told journalists in Yola on Friday that her appeal will demand so much of her time and attention which may likely impact Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing campaign particularly in the State.

In her exact words:

“I stepped down to enable someone to act on my behalf pending the decision to enable me to concentrate on my appeal case.

“I have already filed an appeal at the appellate court over my nullified victory at the primary which would demand my time and attention. So, I had to resign pending the outcome of the Court’s judgement,” she said.

A Federal High Court sitting in Yola on October 14, 2022 nullified the APC Governorship primary in Adamawa State in which Senator Aishatu Binani emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2023 election.

In his ruling in a suit instituted by the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the court presided over by Justice Abdulaziz Anka nullified Binani’s candidature and declared that the APC had no candidate for the 2023 governorship election in Adamawa State.

Confirming the development after the party’s stakeholders meeting in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Friday, the State Secretary of the APC, Mr Raymond Chidama, said the Party received the resignation letter of Senator Binani announcing her stepping down as State Coordinator of the PCC on Friday morning.

Chidama said; “Just this morning, we saw her letter of stepping down from that responsibility. Her resignation followed the nullification of the primary that produced her as the APC governorship candidate by a Federal High Court, Yola”.

Chindama said a former deputy governor to for Governr Muhammad Bindow, Mr Babale Martins, has taken over as the Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in the State, adding that all the candidates of the Party from presidential down to State House of Assembly are coordinators of their respective constituencies.

The State Secretary of the APC further said that the Party Stakeholders resolved that Local Government Party chairmen should produce an all-inclusive list that reflects all the areas for the campaign team but will not affect the PCC list from national level.
