PDP Crisis – Tinubu offered me senetorial ticket to defect to APC – Gov. Wike

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, offered me a senatorial ticket to join the ruling party, Governor Nyesom Wike of River state has revealed.

Sahara Reporters reveals that the offer according to him was part of the effort to woo him which he said he rejected because of the love he had for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike said the former Lagos State governor offered him the ticket after the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to fulfil his promise after winning the presidential primaries in May 2022.

Wike made the disclosure during a media parley in Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State governor earlier accused the embattled National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu of manipulating the process that ensured Atiku won the presidential primaries in Abuja.

He accused Ayu of calling several presidential aspirants to step down for Atiku, a development he said gave Atiku the victory.

However, Wike said despite the offer made to him by Tinubu, he chose to remain in the PDP, adding that he did not contest the primary election to settle for a vice-presidential or senatorial ticket.

“I didn’t contest so I can become a vice presidential candidate, I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial form alongside presidential form and that’s why when Tinubu offered me senate slot, I didn’t go for it,’’ Wike said.
