A Kaduna-based journalist and immediate past Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, John Femi Adi, on Friday morning, September 16, 2022, became the third person to publicly offer to donate one of his kidneys to Sonia, the ailing daughter of Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
He wrote on his verified Facebook page: “I, Comrade John Femi Adi, a Kaduna-based journalist and farmer Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, hereby announce my ‘agape’ decision to donate one of my kidneys to Senator Ekweremadu’s beautiful daughter.

“I am doing this on God’s order in the Holy Bible to Love our neighbours as ourselves .

Earlier on Friday morning, News Express had exclusively reported that Ojinu Friday, 35 and a police officer presently serving in Lagos, had contacted Sonia and offered to donate one of his kidneys to her.
A 24-year-old female skit maker, Annastasia Olamma, had earlier in the week offered to donate her kidney to save Sonia but later said that her family was opposed to her doing so.
Sonia had cried out in a recent Instagram post, announcing that she needed a kidney donor because she had been diagnosed with rare kidney disease, FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome.
The announcement came months after her parents were arrested in the United Kingdom and charged by the UK Metropolitan Police with conspiracy to facilitate the travel of another Nigerian, David Ukpo, for organ harvesting in a desperate bid to save their daughter, who is presently surviving on multiple weekly dialysis.
