Ex-President Jonathan advice youths to vote presidents who have Nigerias interest at heart

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to Nigerian youths to vote for a president that has the interest of the nation at heart.

Jonathan, who made the call in Minna, Niger State, on Wednesday when he visited a former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, said a president who has the interest of the country at heart is all the nation needs at the moment.

“I appeal to the youth to select a person they believe will lead us well and serve us well, somebody who will take the interests of all of us and the country to heart; a leader who will not compromise our interests for personal gain, especially one who sees Nigeria as a project.

“A leader is also a servant, and as president, you are to lead and you are to serve,” Jonathan said.

The former president also stated that only a candidate who sees Nigeria as a project can save the nation.

He further said that other than a courtesy visit as a result of his return from medical treatment abroad, he was in Minna because the nation needs him as a result of the role he plays in stabilising the peace of the nation.

“It has been over a year since I visited the state. As the youngest former president, I go around from time to time to visit them. I haven’t seen General Abdulsalami for quite some time, and you know he just came back from medical treatment abroad, so it is proper for me to come with some of my friends to pay a courtesy call and greet him,” he said.
