Three persons, a woman and 2 children are still missing after a boat capsized in River Benue, Ibi local government area of Taraba State.
Caretaker Committee Chairman of the LGA, Bala Bako who confirmed this to newsmen on Tuesday, said the boat was loaded with passengers on its way to Sarkin Kudu market when the incident occurred.
Bako explained that the Passengers were rescued but a woman and two children were yet to be seen.
According to him, while taking off from the coast, the boat hit a building by the bank of the river and broke into pieces.
Radio Nigeria reports that the Council Chairman has directed that henceforth, life jackets should be provided for use in every boat to safeguard people’s life and a passenger manifest also should be put in place in case of any eventuality.
