Five family members have been kidnapped in the Bukpe community of Wako Ward in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The victims who have been identified as Ibrahim Dakwoi Bukpe, Monica Ibrahim, John Dakwoi Bukpe, Yabuku Dakwoi Bukpea and Margaret Yakubu, were abducted around 9 pm on Monday, August 22.
A member of the victim’s family, who spoke to newsmen, narrated how the gunmen in their numbers wielding sophisticated weapons invaded the community and abducted the victims from two compounds.
According to the family member, he was also captured but when they trekked some distance away from the village, the bandits asked if he could raise the ransom for all the other victims and when he said yes, they asked him to go back home.
The Village Head of Bukpe, Alhaji Hasan Shamdozhi, confirmed the incident; “I just entered my house not more than 10 minutes when I heard gunshots across the community. Later a report came to me that five people from the same family were abducted.” he said
He said the attack on the community was the fourth within the last year while appealing to the government to come to the aid of his people by providing them with security.
