Wase pledges end to Plateau varsity ASUU strike

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase has promised to join hands with the Plateau State Government and other notable persons to end the ongoing industrial action embarked by the state chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking during a courtesy call by the Students Union Government of the Plateau State University, Bokkos at the National Assembly on Wednesday, the Deputy Speaker assured the students that he would communicate with Governor Simon Bako Lalong and the commissioner of higher education with a view to ending the strike.

He charged the students to take their studies seriously and be good ambassadors of Plateau.

I can assure you there is no limit to what you can become in the future,” he said.

On the issue of inadequate of electricity supply to the university, Wase said the problem has affected both the central and the southern zones of the state, assuring that provision was made in the 2022 budget to fix the problems and restore power to the affected communities.

The Deputy Speaker informed them that about half a billion naira was provided by the federal government for the project, and assured them that in no distant time, the problem of electricity will be over.

Earlier, the Student Union Government(SUG) Speaker, Plateau State University, Bokkos, Fonnap Timsel Zongmak, thanked the Deputy Speaker for the warmth reception.
