Obaseki in fresh trouble over fake certificate at the tribunal

There seems to be more trouble for the Edo State governor on his fake certificate scandals.

The Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal in Benin on Monday heard that the University of Ibadan (UI) degree, which Governor Godwin Obaseki submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2016, is different from the one he presented last year.

A report on The Nation said a forensic expert, Raphael Onwuzuligbo, stated this during cross-examination.

Onwuzuligbo, a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was subpoenaed by the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its governorship candidate, Iboi Emmanuel.

The petition is numbered EPT/ED/GOV/01/2020.

INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu are the respondents.

The petitioners are praying the tribunal to disqualify Obaseki over his UI certificate and nullify the votes cast for him.
