Reps kicked against 2 weeks deadline on sim cards registrations issued by NCC, calls for extension

The National House of Representatives has raised a motion challenging the two weeks deadline which was issued by the Nigerian Communication Commission to block any sim card which was not registered with the National Identity Card.

In a motion moved by Honorable Tobi Olumelu who said that the two weeks deadline issued by the NCC is too short to accommodate 200 million Nigerians.

The House later deliberated on the issue, while others want the time to be extended to six weeks, others voted for ten weeks. However, one year was also proposed by Another honourable member to extend it to one year.

Recall that on Tuesday the 15th December, the NCC had issued a two weeks deadline to all Nigerians whose lines were not registered to vote with their National Identity card will be blocked.

The Motion which came under the matter of Public importance at the floor of the house on Wednesday 16th December was later moved and adopted by the honourable members where ten weeks (10 weeks) was resolve to be enough for all registered sim cards to be corrected using the ten weeks.

This according to the house is to checkmate criminal activities being carried out by hood lumps using the #endsars protest as a cases study where hoodlums got access to public officials lines without being traced.
