Federal government bars Emirate airline from operating in Nigeria with effect from Monday 21st

The Federal Government of Nigeria has placed a ban on the Emirate airline company which stops it from operating in the country.

The ban was made known yesterday 18th September 2020 by the Aviation minister Hadi Sirika in a tweet which indicates that Emirate has been added to the lists of those not approved.

The tweet reads;

The PTF subcommittee met today with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban. The meeting progressed well. Emirates Airlines situation was reviewed and they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday 21st September 2020

Recall that the federal government before the resumption of international flights in the country had announced that Air France, KLM, Etihad, RwandAir, Air Namibia, Royal Air Maroc, Lufthansa, TAAG Angola Airlines were not granted approval to commence flight operations.

It also made it clear that only countries that allowed Nigeria a use of its airspace during the Covid-19 will be allowed to operate.
