The twitter company has Yesterday began the removal of verified check mark of some of its users as it announced its new guidelines for the verification program.
According to the new guideline, any account that published inciting hate speech, harassment and other related violation of the twitter rule could loose their verification badge.
Meanwhile, the company has already removed the verification from some prominent users which includes, White nationalists Richard Spencer, Jason Kessler, controversial conservative commentator Laura Loomer, and a blogger known as @APurposefulWife who had all tweeted on Wednesday have lost their verified status.
The twitter company in a series of tweets, said that tue verification process has been misunderstood. “Verification has long been perceived as an endorsement. We gave verified accounts visual prominence on the service which deepened this perception. We should have addressed this earlier but did not prioritize the work as we should have” .
Twitter reportedly suspended verification since Last week due to “confusion” over its policies, and it’s still not accepting any submission.
