A baby born under the rubble of a collapsed building in Syria has been adopted by her aunt and uncle.

Afraa’s mum went into labour soon after the Turkey-Syria earthquake and gave birth before she died, a relative said.

Afraa had still been connected to her mum by her umbilical cord when she was rescued.

Her dad, four siblings and an aunt were also killed.

Thousands of people offered to adopt Afraa, but her aunt and uncle – who also welcomed a baby girl three days after the earthquake – said that the best place for her was with them.
