As Kaduna prepares to host the inaugural rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign on Saturday, the transformative impact of the Renewed Hope Administration’s infrastructure drive is coming into sharp focus.
Motorists traveling at night along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor can now experience an 81-kilometer stretch of solid, concrete-paved highway fully illuminated by state-of-the-art road lighting.
?Across the Northwest region, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has committed to constructing and rehabilitating a total of 4,084 kilometers of roads.
Under this initiative, 348 kilometers of inherited and new road projects have been fully completed, while an additional 1,811 kilometers of road works are partially completed.
Furthermore, 149 emergency road interventions have been successfully executed across the zone.
?Among the completed road infrastructure highlights in the region, Lot 1 of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway features 118 kilometers completed, including the 81-kilometer Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) section scheduled for official commissioning by President Tinubu during the campaign rally on October 24, 2026.
Additionally, Lot 2 has seen 164 kilometers finished using concrete technology, while the 77-kilometer Kaduna–Pambeguwa Road has been completed and will be officially commissioned by the President during the upcoming Jos rally.
?Major ongoing highway projects across the Northwest encompass the Sokoto–Badagry Dualization Project, serving as the second flagship legacy project of the administration.
Work is progressing steadily on its 120-kilometer Sokoto section (240 km dualized) at 60 percent completion, and the 254-kilometer Kebbi section (508 km dualized) at 40 percent completion.

The 350-kilometer Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria corridor (700 km total dualization), executed across four distinct sections, has achieved an average progress rate of 30 percent, while active construction continues on the Kano–Kongolam (153 km), Zaria–Hunkuyi (132 km), and Mando–Birnin Gwari (123 km) roads.
?Complementing the road network, the administration is driving major investments in rail infrastructure to unlock economic opportunities across the zone.
These include the $865 million Kaduna Metropolitan Rail Line project within Kaduna State and the planned construction of the Light Rail network for the Kano metropolitan area, valued at over 1 trillion Naira.
