?Under the newly approved package, the salary review takes retroactive effect from January 2026, with actual disbursement scheduled to begin in September 2026.

The adjustment carries a monthly financial impact of ?391.8 million, bringing the total annual commitment for both state-owned institutions to approximately ?4.7 billion.

?According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision is designed to maintain industrial peace, align state welfare standards with federal and peer state institutions, and boost staff morale.

Governor Yusuf reiterated that the investment aligns with his administration's broader human capital development agenda aimed at bolstering worker welfare and elevating the standard of tertiary education in Kano State.
