The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit their Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates for the 2027 General Election from August 8 to August 11, 2026. 

INEC also announced that the printing of downloadable replacement PVCs for voters in Osun State will close at midnight on August 9, ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The Commission said the move will enable it to compile final statistics of collected PVCs. 

INEC further confirmed that replacement downloadable PVCs are available for affected voters in Odo-Otin and Ife Central LGAs, following the theft of cards during attacks on collection centres. The Commission assured voters that the stolen PVCs cannot be used to vote and reaffirmed its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible and inclusive election.
