Parents have been urged to play a more active role in guiding and monitoring their children as they prepare for university, amid growing concerns over the influence of digital technology.

The Registrar of Nobel Guide Academy Pre-University, Abuja, Mr. Kazeem Adegoke gave the advice at the institution's 2026 graduation ceremony held in Abuja, the nation's capital.

He urged parents to maintain close communication with their children and provide regular guidance, noting that many young people are becoming more attached to their mobile phones than to their families.

"In this digital age, students are becoming closer to their phones than ever before. Parents should monitor them closely and have one-on-one discussions with them instead of distancing themselves," he said.

The Registrar also charged the graduating students to be good ambassadors of Nigeria by exhibiting good character and making positive contributions to society.

According to Mr. Adegoke, academic excellence should be complemented by integrity, responsibility and service to humanity.

"It is not just about being knowledgeable; it is about playing a crucial role in society and making it a better place to live," he said.

He explained that Nobel Guide Pre-University prepares students for university through mentorship, orientation and campus adaptation programmes designed to equip them with the skills needed for academic success and responsible citizenship.

One of the graduating Cambridge A-Level students, Mubarak Yusuf, said he aspires to become an Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineer to contribute to innovations that improve people's lives.

According to Yusuf, Artificial Intelligence is shaping the future, and he wants to be among the creative minds driving that transformation.

"AI is shaping the future, and I want to be part of the creative minds developing solutions that make life easier for people," he said.

Yusuf advised younger students to remain focused and consistent in their studies while making the most of the opportunities available to them.

"Start strong, stay consistent, listen to your teachers, and take advantage of every opportunity you have. Every step you take today helps build the future you want," he said.

A total of 12 students graduated from Nobel Guide Pre-University at the ceremony held on 24 July 2026 in Abuja.
