Governor Zulum Pledges Stronger Support for 2027 Hajj as Borno Receives 2026 Pilgrimage Report


?Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring a seamless 2027 Hajj pilgrimage by promising enhanced operational support for the Borno State Hajj Commission.



?Governor Zulum made the commitment on Wednesday at the Government House in Maiduguri after receiving the official report of the 2026 exercise from Professor Yakubu Yunus, Executive Chairman of the Borno State Hajj Commission.


Commending the commission for its efforts, the governor noted that the report will undergo a thorough review to build on successes and address operational gaps.


?Stressing that preparations for the 2027 exercise must begin immediately, Governor Zulum highlighted key areas needing improvement, particularly internal coordination among commission officials.


He promised to provide all necessary resources for the upcoming exercise while assuring that the welfare and remuneration of commission staff would be addressed to boost efficiency.


?While presenting the report, Professor Yunus described the 2026 exercise as one of the most successful in the state's history, attributing its seamless execution to team dedication and crucial state support, including quality accommodation in Makkah alongside essential supplies for pilgrims.


?The report presentation was attended by key state officials, including Secretary to the State Government Bukar Tijani, Acting Chief of Staff Dr. Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, alongside members of the state executive council.
