?The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has called on Nigerians living in the diaspora, particularly in the United States, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in transforming the nation’s economy.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interactive session at Nigeria House in New York, the Vice President highlighted the administration's efforts to reposition key sectors such as education, health, science and technology, and agriculture, emphasizing that the diaspora community’s intellect and capacity remain the country’s greatest asset for future growth.

?Addressing the gathering, Senator Shettima praised President Tinubu's courage in implementing bold reforms from day one rather than blaming previous administrations.

He noted that these measures are yielding tangible results, pointing to a significant increase in foreign reserves—rising from $3.9 billion to over $55 billion—and a 4.45 percent economic growth rate in the last quarter.

According to the Vice President, these improvements in exchange rate stability and foreign reserves will help safeguard diaspora remittances and secure investments made by Nigerians abroad.

?The Vice President assured the audience that investor confidence is returning to the country, citing the success of the Dangote Refinery as a major milestone.

He noted that despite negative portrayals on social media, Nigeria is open for business and positioned on a path of sustained economic growth.

Highlighting social investments, he referenced the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which has disbursed ?125 billion to over 1.29 million tertiary students.

Addressing security concerns, he affirmed that the government is utilizing all available resources to manage emerging challenges while urging Nigerians to remain united, stressing that what unites the nation is far greater than what divides it.

?The interactive session was attended by key state and federal officials, including Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), along with Senate Leader Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele.

Federal cabinet members in attendance included Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr. Bernard Doro, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Solid Minerals Development Chief Dele Alake, Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and Minister of State for the FCT Dr. Mariya Bunkure.

Also present were Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amb. Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria's Ambassador to Washington, Amb. Kayode Are, several governors' spouses, heads of government agencies, and officials from the Nigerian mission in the US.
