Nigeria has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of the Republic of the Sudan, pledging to back all credible regional and international efforts to end the country's ongoing conflict.
The assurance was given by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, during a diplomatic meeting with the Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammed Abdelaal Haroun, in Abuja on Friday.
highlighting the deep historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two nations—particularly the large Nigerian diaspora residing in Sudan.
Ambassador Enikanolaiye emphasized that Nigeria favors an inclusive, Sudanese-led peace process and a broad-based national dialogue to facilitate a sustainable democratic transition.


?During the briefing, Ambassador Haroun updated Nigerian authorities on current security developments and ongoing peace initiatives, such as the Jeddah diplomatic process, while formally seeking Nigeria’s influential backing to facilitate Sudan’s reintegration into the African Union (AU).
Moving forward, Ambassador Enikanolaiye committed to briefing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the discussions to determine how Nigeria can further scale up its contributions to regional peace efforts, signaling a mutual commitment to sustaining close diplomatic consultations.
