The First Lady of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu has flagged off the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable households in Muslim communities in 19 northern states and the FCT ahead of the Eid el Kabir celebrations.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu who was in Kaduna to perform the flag-off ceremony explained that the gesture is in solidarity with the Muslim faithful in northern Nigeria.
She noted that the Kaduna State which is the take-off point of the distribution is a worthy example of peaceful coexistence across faith lines and ethnicity which is worthy of emulation.
“I appeal to all our communities across the North to continue to live together in love and with mutual respect. I urge all our religious and community leaders to continue to shoulder the responsibility of preaching the message of peace. A united Nigeria is one that can overcome any challenge. I thank all the Ulama, traditional leaders, and community representatives present for their prayers and support for this administration”.

The First Lady informed the gathering made up predominantly of Islamic Leaders, Scholars and Ulama from northern Nigeria, that the distribution of palliatives comprising a total of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2bn (One point Two Billion naira) would be handled by State Coordinating Committee which have already been constituted.
“Today’s flag-off is a gesture of solidarity to appreciate the Muslim Ummah of northern Nigeria. As we approach Eid el-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, compassion, and gratitude, through this intervention, we are translating the message of the season into palliatives for vulnerable Muslim communities across all 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory”.
“I am therefore pleased to formally flag off the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and the sum of 1.2 Billion Naira (?1,200,000,000) to 19 Northern States and the FCT. These palliatives will be distributed through the State Coordinating Committees already established”.
“On the 23rd December, 2025, we distributed palliatives to Christian communities across northern Nigeria. Today, we fulfil the same commitment to our Muslim brothers and sisters”.
In their remarks, the Governors of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma and Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani all applauded the transformative strides of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the nation and described his attention to issues regarding Northern Nigeria as intent and keen which they say has resulted in various land-mark developmental projects across various sectors.
The Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs and Other Matters, Hon Ibrahim Masari assured the Muslim faithful present that there would be transparency and diligence in the distribution of the palliatives.
The Interim Chairman of Muslim Intellectuals Forum Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman thanked the First Lady for being unbiased in her various humanitarian gestures.
According to him, both the President and the First Lady work passionately for the good of the nation from every part of the country irrespective of political affiliation and religious beliefs.
