?The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has uncovered a plan by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to discredit its presidential campaign flag-off taking place today in Kaduna.
?In a statement signed by campaign spokesperson Dele Alake, the APC warned the public to beware of fake news, deepfake videos, and forged documents being deployed to distort the reality of the event and mislead Nigerians.
?According to the council, the opposition’s propaganda scheme has already manifested in two coordinated attempts over the past 24 hours. First, a routinely stationed security vehicle near an APC billboard in Kaduna metropolis was photographed and twisted into a narrative alleging that security personnel were deployed solely to guard campaign posters.
The story was published by an anti-government media outlet and immediately shared by Atiku Abubakar across his official social media channels to amplify the falsehood.
?Second, a forged letter was circulated online, purportedly signed by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and addressed to APC Campaign Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, claiming the state released N2.3 trillion to host the rally.
The APC described the claim as mathematically impossible, noting that N2.3 trillion exceeds Kaduna State's combined annual budgets for three consecutive years (2024: N458.27bn, 2025: N790.44bn, and 2026: N985.9bn).
?The campaign council further cautioned that the opposition plans to release recycled, manipulated, and AI-generated deepfake videos during the rally to simulate public rejection. The APC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, disregard opposition machinations, and verify information before sharing.
