?President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, extending the implementation period of the 2025 national budget from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

The presidential assent followed the swift passage of the amendment bill by both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

?According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the three-month extension gives Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) additional time to complete ongoing capital projects.

The measure aims to ensure that appropriated public funds are fully utilized for critical ongoing programs without operational disruptions.

?President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their rapid consideration and passage of the bill, highlighting the action as a demonstration of constructive executive-legislative collaboration in the interest of national development.
