?The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to eliminating malaria by boosting domestic healthcare financing and minimizing reliance on external donor support.

?Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Board of Trustees of the Malaria Consortium in Abuja, Prof. Pate highlighted the successful partnership between the ministry's National Malaria Elimination Programme and the organization.

He noted that joint, data-driven strategies contributed to reducing malaria parasite prevalence among children aged six to 59 months from 42 percent in 2010 to 15 percent in 2025.

?To further lower the disease burden, the minister outlined plans to scale up seasonal malaria chemoprevention, insecticide-treated bed nets, targeted vaccines, improved diagnostics, and affordable treatments nationwide.

?While acknowledging the vital contributions of international partners, Prof. Pate emphasized that long-term healthcare provision remains a primary duty of government at all levels.

He urged state authorities to direct increased revenues toward primary healthcare infrastructure and local health security to ensure sustainable progress.
