?The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., has warmly welcomed the appointment of Dr Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).

?In a congratulatory message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas commended President Tinubu’s political foresight in making the selection, describing Dr Olanrewaju-Smart as "the right person for the job."

?Dr Olanrewaju-Smart, whose new role represents a promotion from Senior Special Assistant to the President on Intergovernmental Affairs, has deep-rooted ties to the House.

He previously served as Chief of Staff to Speaker Abbas before his move to the Presidency in 2023, and held the same role under the Speaker of the 9th House, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who is now Chief of Staff to the President.

?Characterizing the appointment as well-deserved, Speaker Abbas praised Dr Olanrewaju-Smart's dedication, integrity, and profound understanding of parliamentary procedures and governance.

He highlighted that having such a capable liaison will significantly boost executive-legislative collaboration and deepen strategic relations between both arms of government.

?Wishing the appointee a successful tenure, the Speaker prayed that Allah (SWT) grants him the wisdom, strength, and grace needed for the national assignment.

?Dr Olanrewaju-Smart holds a Ph.D. in Educational Management from Lead City University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University.

His academic credentials also include an Edward Mason Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School, a LEAPS Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a Policy Fellowship at Quantum Alliance AI (USA), and a professional diploma from the London School of Public Relations.
