The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has dismissed claims alleging a government plot to assassinate the former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
?In a press statement issued on October 20, 2026, by APC PCC Spokesperson Dele Alake, the campaign council categorically rejected the claims made by ADC member Timi Frank, calling them baseless and urging security agencies to invite Mr. Frank to substantiate his allegations.
?Addressing claims regarding Atiku’s security detail, the APC PCC clarified that reports suggesting his security personnel had been withdrawn are entirely false.
The council emphasized that Atiku continues to receive robust protection from both the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) as a former Vice President.
Furthermore, the council noted that President Bola Tinubu recently directed security agencies to bolster security measures for all presidential, vice-presidential, governorship, and deputy governorship candidates nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.
?Describing the allegations as opposition rabble-rousing designed to heat up the polity, the APC PCC urged all political parties, candidates, and supporters to remain responsible and factual in their public utterances as the campaign season progresses.
The council called for a peaceful, lawful political process focused on critical national issues rather than wild allegations and character assassination.
