 In continuation of the ongoing training program for young African media professionals, the 63rd cohort of the Union of African Journalists (UAJ) paid an official visit to Al-Ahram, Egypt’s oldest and most renowned newspaper house.

Founded in 1875, Al-Ahram stands as a cornerstone of Arab and African journalism. During the excursion, the visiting journalists were guided through the institution's historic archives by Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Public Relations Department Director at Al-Ahram Newspaper which house a rich collection of vintage photographs, early printing equipment, and original news coverage of defining historical moments across the region.

 The media complex is divided into two main sections which comprise the Historic Building that holds legacy printing equipment and archived records featuring prominent Egyptian leaders and pivotal historical figures.

Meanwhile the Modern Complex Houses contemporary newsrooms, production facilities, and the diverse editorial departments that power the modern media house.

Beyond its flagship Arabic daily, the delegation explored Al-Ahram’s foreign-language publications, including Al-Ahram Weekly (an English-language publication established in 1991) and Al-Ahram Hebdo (a French-language weekly published since 1994).

The visit culminated in a meeting with Dr. Mohamed Fayez Farahat, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Al-Ahram and President of the UAJ, who interacted directly with the participants, praised the role of young African media voices, and joined the delegation for a commemorative group photograph.
