?President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), following the resignation of Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, who stepped down to contest an elective position in his home state.

?Dr Olanrewaju-Smart, 40, brings a deep reservoir of legislative and public policy experience to the role. Prior to this appointment, he served in the Presidency as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Intergovernmental Affairs, a role he assumed in October 2023.

His extensive career in the National Assembly includes key positions such as Research and Media Assistant to the Minority/Majority Leader (7th and 8th Assemblies), as well as Special Adviser, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives during the 9th and 10th Assemblies.

?An accomplished academic and policy strategist, Olanrewaju-Smart earned a PhD in Educational Management from Lead City University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he was named an Edward Mason Fellow in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.

His credentials also include a professional diploma from the London School of Public Relations, a LEAPS Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Policy Fellowship at Quantum Alliance AI (USA), focusing on artificial intelligence and civic tech.

?Throughout his career, Dr Olanrewaju-Smart has contributed to major legislative benchmarks, including research work on the Interest-Free Student Loan Act.

President Tinubu expressed full confidence in his capability to leverage his intellect, expertise, and commitment to enhance legislative coordination and deepen working relations between the Executive, federal ministries, departments, agencies, and the House of Representatives.
