The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the Republic of Rwanda through expanded trade, investment, regional security cooperation, and increased private sector participation.

?Ambassador Enikanolaiye gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Nigeria, His Excellency Moses Rugema, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.

Both diplomats reviewed the current state of bilateral ties and explored practical measures to advance cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.

?Conveying warm greetings from the Rwandan government, Ambassador Rugema emphasized the excellent diplomatic ties between both nations, rooted in mutual respect, African solidarity, and shared aspirations for peace, regional integration, and sustainable development.

?To boost economic collaboration, the Rwandan envoy underscored the importance of convening the next session of the Nigeria-Rwanda Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) and noted that technical consultations are underway to finalize outstanding bilateral agreements.

He proposed establishing a Nigeria-Rwanda Business Forum to leverage opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), identifying priority sectors such as ICT, healthcare, agriculture, defense, and capacity building.

?In response, Ambassador Enikanolaiye stressed the need to translate high-level political goodwill into tangible economic outcomes by facilitating private-sector-led growth, expanding trade, and increasing cross-border investment.

?Addressing regional stability, both sides acknowledged the complex security challenges across Africa, emphasizing that enhanced African-led solutions, defense cooperation, and sustained dialogue are essential for combating terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational organized crime.

?The Minister of State further highlighted the value of sharing best practices in governance, public service delivery, human security, and infrastructure, noting that stronger continental alignment directly supports the goals of AU Agenda 2063.

?The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to expedite ongoing bilateral initiatives including the JPC and the proposed Business Forum reaffirming their joint determination to advance shared interests in peace, security, and economic prosperity.
