Former Nigerian vice president Alex Ekwueme, who was rushed to a London clinic via an air ambulance some weeks back has finally rested. According to a statement from his family he died at a London clinic on Sunday.
The statement which was signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, disclosed that Mr. Ekwueme died at 10:00 pm.
Some parts of the statement reads: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON.
“The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.”
He died at the age of 85, it would be recalled that the deceased had celebrated his birthday on octorber 21, where he later collapse in his residence and was rushed to the hospital where he had stayed for sometime before being airlifted to London.
