The Zakah & Waqf Foundation successfully brought together 80 Muslim youths in Gombe for a workshop aimed at fostering self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development through skill-building and mentorship.

During the workshop, the Chairman of the Foundation, Ameer Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido, emphasized the importance of Muslim youths in Nigeria’s socio-economic progress.

He encouraged participants to shift their focus from job-seeking to job-creating, urging them to fully embrace the knowledge gained during the event and use it to build a brighter future without solely relying on government employment.

Dr. Najeeb A.A. Gambo, a certified Microsoft researcher, highlighted emerging opportunities in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

He stressed that with the rise of AI, individuals could acquire valuable skills that would empower them to be self-sufficient and not depend on government jobs.

Dr. Adamu Tilde, an expert in Agricultural innovations, discussed the vast potential of the agricultural sector, urging youths to explore agribusiness as a lucrative career path.

He pointed out that agriculture provides more financial opportunities than many traditional jobs, encouraging participants to pursue this thriving sector.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, chaired the ceremonial session and encouraged participants to leverage Waqf as a tool for community empowerment.

The workshop culminated in a reunion of past participants and an Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was attended by 200 people. During the event, alumni shared success stories and offered guidance on how participants could apply the skills and knowledge gained during the workshop to real-life challenges.
