Youth Group Calls for Clemency for Minors Charged with Treason

By Ahmed Ahmed

Youth Group under auspices of YOUTH O’CLOCK NIGERIA, has urged authorities to reconsider charges of treason against 76 individuals, including minors, following August protests

Mr Seth Francis, Convener and Coordinator of YOUTH O’CLOCK NIGERIA made the appeal in a press statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi

Francis deemed the charges “alarming” and “pitiful,” emphasizing the need for mercy and rehabilitation over punishment.

He stressed that political thuggery has long plagued Nigeria’s democracy, with desperate politicians exploiting vulnerable youths.

“This cycle of violence and intimidation must be broken, and youths empowered to create positive change,” he said.

Francis also appealed to Nigerian youths to refrain from hooliganism and political thuggery, urging them to demand better from leaders and build a nation where everyone can thrive.

He emphasized the importance of education, rehabilitation, and guiding youths toward positive pathways.

Mr Francis stressed the collective responsibility to ensure Nigeria is built on justice, mercy, and opportunity for every citizen.

“By working together, a better, more inclusive Nigeria can be created, where every young person has the chance to thrive,” he said.
