Empowering Women, Building Peace Bauchi Group WPS Pushes for Inclusive Policies

The Bauchi Group Women Peace and Security (WPS) has called for the advancement of policies and implementation of gender-sensitive political and conflict analysis to promote women’s meaningful participation in peacemaking and peacebuilding efforts.

The group consists of Bauchi Women Mediators, He for She and Media Partners made the call at one day town hall meeting with relevant stakeholders MDAs and law enforcement agents on WPS on Friday in Bauchi

The meeting was supported by Cleen foundation, Bauchi State Government, Norwegian Embassy and UN women.

Hajiya Binta Mohammed, Chairperson Women mediators explained that the essence of the meeting is to promote inclusion and Women’s Participation.

“Encourage women’s involvement in electoral and political processes as well as prevent Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, she said

Mrs Esther Patrick, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Women affairs, member of women Mediators stressed that WPS is aimed to address and prevent violence through gender mainstreaming in all projects

“To also ensure gender mainstreaming, by allocating resources, track gender markers, and ensure gender-sensitive conflict analysis,”

She assures the ministry’s continued support of WPS projects and programs.

Also Speaking, Mr Jinjiri Garba, he for she, urges policymakers, media partners, and stakeholders to support the advancement of gender-sensitive policies and conflict analysis.

“Together, we can promote women’s meaningful participation in peacemaking and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring a more equitable and peaceful society,” he said

On her part, Mrs Bulak Afsa, Media Partner examine the role media in advancing Women peace and security in the state

“Media partners play a vital role in promoting women’s peace and security. By amplifying women’s voices and highlighting their experiences,

“The media can challenge harmful gender stereotypes and promote a culture of peace. Effective media engagement can”, She said

The Stakeholders at the meeting include members of WPS, Police, Civil Defense, People with Disability, Civil Society Organisations, government officials, traditional and religious leaders among others.
