The Bauchi State Government has secured $5 million out of an $80 million World Bank-assisted project for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
The AGILE project aims to enhance secondary education opportunities by addressing challenges and making education more appealing to adolescent girls, parents, and communities.
At a quarterly state steering committee meeting, Education Commissioner Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru assured proper utilization of funds to achieve project objectives.

“We are committed to utilizing the AGILE funds effectively to transform the education sector in Bauchi State,” Dr. Dahiru said.
The project, in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education, focuses on improving teaching and learning outcomes for girls aged 10-20.
Key initiatives include renovating over 1,000 public schools, supporting poor families, and strengthening the education system.
Committee members were charged to adhere to project terms and approved work plans.
“Your role is crucial in ensuring the success of the AGILE project in Bauchi State,” Dr. Dahiru emphasized
Alhaji Ali Sule Gar, State Coordinator of AGILE project in Bauchi State, presented the 2024 approved work plan to the committee.
“The plan outlines three key components: Improving access to education for adolescent girls, enhancing quality of education and promoting community engagement and support,” he said.
Bauchi State is among the 11 states selected to benefit from the World Bank’s AGILE project, which aims to boost Adolescent Girls Education nationwide.
