Adamawa FOMWAN Chairperson Urges Parents To Monitor Children, Warns Against Drug Abuse

 

Parents, especially mothers, have been urged to consider and take care of their children at any time and know their friends to protect them from indulging in drug abuse in society.

 

The Amira of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria FOMWAN, Adamawa state chapter, Hajiya Khadija Buba, made the call while speaking to Journalists in Yola.

Hajiya Buba said mothers have a major role to play in controlling their children, citing the importance of parents teaching their children Western and religious knowledge to ensure peace and development and tackle the issue of drug abuse in the community.

She commended the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, for her effort to organize an awareness campaign against drug abuse in the society for peaceful coexistence in the state.

She advised parents and people of the state to support Hajiya Lami Fintiri’s programs to succeed in the fight against drug abuse in Adamawa state.

Hajiya Khadija Buba also called on the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA to redouble efforts to rehabilitate those who committed themselves to drug abuse.

The FOMWAN Chairperson, however, called on civil organizations, individuals, and stakeholders to continue creating awareness among the communities, especially the youths, on the dangers of drug abuse.

Additionally, Hajiya Khadija Buba called on the Federal and State Governments to give maximum support, especially to the NDLEA with essential materials to help the Agency to tackle the issue of drug abuse and rehabilitate the abusers.
