Senate Screens NAHCON Chairman

The Nigerian senate has today 8th September screened the newly appointed Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Usman Saleh.

 

The committee being headed by Senator Sani Bello, Chairman Senate committee on foreign affairs unanimously adopted the motion to screen professor Abdullahi Saleh saying he is qualified and best fitted for the job.

 

Senator Adamu Aliero from Kebbi State said that he has known the candidate for a long time haven’t watched him on television,followed his activities as one of tue frontiers of Da’awa organisation has suggested that the other committee members should support the nomination noting that he is perfect for the position.

The motion was seconded by Senator Shehu Buba from Bauchi who is also a member of the screening committee while the rest of the members adopted same.

 

During an interview after the screening, Chairman Senate committee on foreign affairs Senator Sani Bello Abubakar representing Niger East, said that the committee will present their report in the floor of the senate tomorrow Wednesday during plenery and hopefully the report will be ready tomorrow or latest Wednesday.

 

“Because he has been in acting for sometimes and we don’t usually want someone to remain on acting capacity for a very long time”.

 

Senator Sani Bello who expressed satisfaction on the CV of the chairman said they have all studied his credentials very well for a period of time and all the necessary documentation ranging from DSS report and the rest are intact, he has experience in running religious affairs and they are convinced, he also said that professor Saleh has good recommendations as well, he can speak Arabic fluently and he is an active religious leader which made him an excellent candidate for the job.

 

“Even though sometimes we are convinced but later get surprises, only God knows that one, however in terms of documentation we are satisfied with his capacity” Senator Sani Bello said

 

On what outcome should be expected, Senator Sani said  he can’t say much on the outcome of the plenery he however hope that his colleagues will put this into consideration and give the report the attention it deserves.
