Borno CoP Vows to Reduce Zero-Dose Prevalence, Boost Immunization

In a significant move to protect the health and well-being of children in Borno State, the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Community of Practice CoP has pledged to reduce zero-dose prevalence and increase immunization rates in the State.

The State CoP for Immunization budget tracking and accountability made the commitment at the first quarterly review meeting recently at the Polio EOC conference hall in Maiduguri.

According to CoP, the initiative aims to ensure that all children in the state have access to life-saving vaccines and are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, AHBN Coordinator, represented by Dr Hassan Shuaibu appreciated the government and the CoP stakeholders in the state for welcoming the idea of the CoP for immunization budget tracking and accountability

He urged CoP members to engage in selfless advocacy efforts to improve funding and resource utilization in the healthcare system.

The Executive Secretary of Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board, Prof. Arab Mohammed Alhaji, appreciated the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) and AFENET for successfully implementing the Zero Dose Learning Project (ZDLH) in the state

The ES, represented by the State Immunization Officer Alhaji Maina Modu w t applauded the support and sense of ownership given to the established Community of Practice.

He pledged the board’s readiness to cooperate with the CoP and the AHBN/AFENET in advancing the core advocacy efforts.

“By providing all necessary details of government budgetary allocations and support from partners,” he said.

The CoP Secretariat lead, Mr. Adam Gujja Gujja, presented an overview of the past quarter’s advocacy engagements, achieving 45% success.

However members deliberated on the next quarter’s work plan, mandating pillar leads to draft projected activities for harmonization and AHBN approval.
