Bauchi legislators pledges improved funding for immunization

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has pledged to promote improved funding to health, especially routine immunization, through their role in the Public Account Committee in the State.

They made the pledge when team of Bauchi State Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of Practice (CoP) paid an advocacy visit to Majority Leader,Saleh Hodi and the Chairman house committee on Health, Lawan Dauda, on Friday in Bauchi

The legislators assured the team of their support, promising to step up oversight functions to ensure accountability and proper utilization of budgeted amounts.

The Majority Leader, Hodi, pledged to promote improved funding to health, especially routine immunization, through his role in the Public Account Committee.

The Chairman House Committee on Health Dauda, promised to appeal to his colleagues in the Committee on Appropriation to ensure necessary support for increased immunization funding in the state.

The team, led by Mr. Jinjiri Garba, said the advocacy visit was aimed to strengthen immunization services and ensure that all children have access to life-saving vaccines in the State.

He requested the legislators’ support for increased immunization budget allocation, oversight, tracking, accountability, and sustainability.

Also speaking, Dr. Hassan Musa, call for the smooth passage of the projected N870 million immunization budget for 2025, introduction of the Immunization/Zero Dose Budget line,

“As well as re-introduction of the Government Cash Counterpart (GCC) Account, and funding for vaccine- preventable diseases and routine immunization counterpart funding payments.,” he said.
