The Chairman All Progressive Congress (APC) Bauchi State Chapter, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde has cautioned that joining protest may compromise relative peace enjoined in the state.

Tilde made the assertion in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi, describing Bauchi as the Most peaceful state in the North East, saying we must strive to keep this peace.

“Therefore joining this protest may compromise this peace and we’ll pay for it. forewarned is forearmed,” he said.

According to him,our security agencies, who know better, especially the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services and the Military warned that foreign elements are drafted to take advantage of the proposed protest in order to cause chaos in our country to which Bauchi State is an integral part.

“The security agencies are cautioning us against partaking in this protest. Similarly, our religious leaders, traditional leaders, statesmen and wise men and women all over the country have cautioned us against joining this protest.

“Besides, history and recent sad and violent experiences of other nations like Sudan, Kenya, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka to name but a few should serve as warning lessons to us in Bauchi, we also saw how the EndSars protest devastated Lagos State and other States.

“Indeed our leaders and experts are right and history and experiences do matter a whole lot. Since we know the history we must not allow history to repeat itself,” he said

The Chairman appeals to good people to listen to the voice of reason and avoid this protest at all cost. It will not augur well for our dear state, our businesses, our economy, and our social well-being.

He urged the State Government to not, for political motives, clandestinely or tacitly encourage, incite, condone or be indifferent to this protest in any way, form or shape.

“We also urge the governor to be proactive in ensuring the security of lives and property of all citizens in the State,” he said..

This is not about the constitutionality or otherwise of a peaceful protest. It’s about the peace, security, democracy and territorial integrity of our nation that we are forewarned is at stake.

“Bauchi must remain the most peaceful state at all costs. We all must strive towards that goal by saying no to this protest,” Tilde said
