UNICEF, NAWOJ to accelerate access to education among Women in Bauchi

The United Nations Children’s Education Find( UNICEF) has on Wednesday partnered with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), The Bauchi chapter has built the capacity of women to accelerate more enrollment in Bauchi women into acquiring basic education.

The one-day activity was in line with the International Women’s Day Celebration held in Bauchi with the theme Invest in Women.

Speaking, the NAWOJ, Chairperson, Mrs Rasheeda Yusuf said that women play vital roles in national building.

She said that establishing informal learning centres to serve the education needs of women should be prioritised by all stakeholders.

Yusuf advocated for grassroots reporting on women-related issues to promote success stories and identify outstanding women in various communities.

“I am calling on journalists to report grassroots activities to amplify success stories and promote women.

” Education is vital and women should take any given opportunity to a quiet knowledge; this will for sure bring development and fulfil our yarning for 35per cent affirmative action,” she said.

In his contrition on behalf of UNICEF communication partners, said that journalists would develop news content that would identify issues for policymakers to take action.

He applauded the leadership of NAWOJ in Bauchi for championing activities to commit women to go back to school.

During the programme,the various facilities herpson essential and socio economic impact of obtain basic education among women folks.

Mrs Lydia Shehu, Director General, Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),Bauchi office emphasied on leveraging on opportunities provide by Government and partners to achieve the aim of attending second chance classes.

She task women to be proactive to persuit the goal of social inclusion in various sectors.
