FG awards N35bn for Bauchi-Gombe road rehabilitation, as Gov Bala inaugurate N10 billion road

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state says that the Federal Government has awarded the sum of N35 billion for the rehabilitation of the Bauchi-Gombe road, just as the Governor inaugurated about N10 billion road.

Mohammed stated this in the Alkaleri local government area of the state on Friday during the inauguration ceremony of the 29-kilometre road from Dindima to Maina Maji in Bauchi and Alkaleri Local Government Areas of the state.

“Arrangements have reached an advanced stage for the commencement of complete rehabilitation of Bauchi to Dindima road awarded by the Federal Government,” he said.

Mohammed, who commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his commitment toward the actualisation of the project, said that when completed, it would address the transportation challenges being experienced by commuters.

 

The governor explained that the major components of the project included; the construction of bridges and culverts from Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State to Gombe State to reduce the incessant cutting off of the road along the corridor, especially during the rainy season.

According to him, about N10 billion was also approved by his administration to provide smooth access to Yankari Games Reserve and enhance transportation and commercial activities for the benefiting communities and tourists.

Earlier, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Transport, Ibrahim Galadima who said the work is to be completed in 18 months, assured that the Ministry would ensure strict adherence to the contract specifications.
