Governor Siminilayi Fubara GSSRS of Rivers State has remitted 100% hajj fair of the state’s intending pilgrim for the 2024 Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Abdurrazaq Diepriye sole Administrator of Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board disclosed this today 31ts January during a meeting at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) between the Chairman/CEO Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi OON, fwc with Executive Secretaries & Chairmen of States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Agencies/Boards/Commissions at the Hajj House Conference Hall-Abuja.
By this development, Governor Fubara has become the first governor in the whole federation to meet with NAHCONS deadline on the hajj fare which is posing a source of concern to many state administrators.
Recalled that the deadline for the remittance of hajj fare for 2024 was in December 2023, however, due to low turnout, nAH CON extended the time by one month to enable the intending pilgrim to make payment.
Although the projected deadline has elapsed, however, up till now the official and authentic fare for this year’s hajj has not been disclosed as the commission still awaits the official announcement by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
