Christmas: Tuggar urges christians to pray for peace, security, donates food items worth N9m

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Mautama Tuggar has urged the Christian community to pray for peace, security, and prosperity of the nation, just as he donated food items and cash worth N9 million to Christian communities in Bauchi State.

Tuggar made the call while donating food items and cash to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Bauchi state, Igbo community among others on Sunday in Bauchi.

He enjoined the Christian faithful and the entire people of the state to rededicate themselves and remain steadfast in prayers against all the challenges bedevilling the state and the entire Nation.

Amb Tuggar, Represented by Director General Tuggar Foundation Alhaji Bello Tukura said considering the trying moment that engulfed citizens necessitated the minister to donate the food items to the Christian faithful to celebrate Christmas.

” We are indeed in a trying moment but I am optimistic that with collective sacrifice, and by turning to God through prayers we shall overcome all the trials and emerge stronger,” he said.

He said the items distributed worth 9 million include 100 bags of rice, 250 cartons of spaghetti and 250 cartoons of Macaroni, to the Christians and Igbo communities in preparation for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

According to him, the distribution of food items emphasizes its aim to alleviate the economic challenges faced by society.

“This act reflects our commitment to peace and peaceful coexistence, and I assure you that it will be an ongoing initiative.

“We should sustain our support and prayers for the government to continue to excel so that we can enjoy more dividends of democracy at our doorsteps,” he urged.

Reverend Abraham Damina, the State CAN Chairman, appreciated the Minister of Foreign Affairs for his concern and support for their members in the state.

He described Tuggar as a man of the people who are concerned with the plight of the downtrodden, saying the gesture arrived in good times when the Christian communities.

Damina prayed for Ambassador Tuggar’s upliftment and to excel in his official engagement for the state and country.

Also appreciating Tuggar, Mr Johnson Ude leader of Igbo Forum in Bauchi State said the annual gesture will go a long way to alleviate the sufferings of their members during Christmas.

He appreciated Tuggar for his annual programme of touching the lives of the citizens, ensuring that the Igbo community would continue to pray for Ambassador Tuggar’s success in all his endeavours.
