A JSS 3 Student has met his untimely death after he was beaten mercilessly by his school authority in Zaria.
A source who said he visited the school after he heard about the story said the incident occurred on Friday 20th October and the school name is Al-Azhar Academy behind Kofar Gayan of Zaria.
According to reports, the teenager Marwanu Nuhu Sambo was said to have been brought in front of the assembly by the vice principal who together with the Principal of the school flogged him until they lost count.
They later dragged him to the staff room where they removed his clothes left him with just his undies and continued beating him.
It was also gathered that Marwanu tried to run away however, the school prefects got hold of him and returned him to the principal and his vice while the beating continued until they broke some of his teeth.
The report further states that after the boy had died, he was dragged and dumped by the toilet for hours before being taken to the hospital where the doctor confirmed him dead.
The source said he interacted with some students in the school who assured him that Marwanu was flogged more than 105 strokes at the assembly ground.
The source has further confirmed that he visited the home of the deceased and met him being prepared for burial rites.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved parents have said their son was taken to the hospital and the school never reached out to them, they only heard stories going around surrounding their son’s predicament and decided to rush to the hospital where the doctor told them that the boy was brought in dead to the hospital.
The sources further revealed that as of the time of this report, no word from the school neither did any of the authorities visit the aggrieved family for condolence.
Marwanu was said to have met his untimely death because he doesn’t attend school regularly hence the reason for the punishment.
