“We will not relent in speaking about insecurity” Reps.

The House of Representatives has stated that the 10th Assembly will not relent in speaking out on issues surrounding insecurity in the country

This was stated during plenary on Tuesday 3rd October while debating on the floor of the house about the incessant insecurity being faced in some parts of the country.

A motion of public importance was raised by Hon. Ahmed Babawo Jaha representing Dambuwa/Chibok constituency,  Borno State seeking the intervention of the federal government to provide maximum security for farmers in the Northeast.

According to Hon. Jaha, Farmers are in fear now that it is time for harvest therefore making it difficult for them to access their farm produce.

Jaha prayed that the federal government should intensify security for the farmers who are being attacked and killed daily on their farms as well as proffer a lasting  solution

Deputy speaker of the house Honourable Benjamin Kalu while ruling on the motion said that security is a very important issue that affects everyone, therefore it should not be pushed aside noting that it is not a problem peculiar to a region

He said:

“insecurity is a very serious issue destroying the Northwest, Northeast and other parts of the country therefore we will not relent to speak about it whenever we have the opportunity to do so, let it not be seen as a northern problem because it affects affects everyone “.

A one-minute silence was held to honour all the victims of Boko haram who lost their lives in their farms as one of the prayer requests of the motion mover, Hon. Ahmed Babawo Jaha.
