Bauchi govt committed to tackle ecological challenges

The Bauchi State Government has reiterated its commitment to tackle ecological challenges in the state.

The Commissioner of Works and Transport Mr Ibrahim Gambo stated this when he visited flood and erosion affected areas in Alkaleri local government area of the Slate on Sunday.

 

Galadima, who paid an unscheduled visit to some flood and gully erosion sites in Alkaleri metropolis, Putuk and Yalo all in Alkaleri Local Government Area, said the state government has prioritized road maintenance to ensure good living standards of the rural communities.

He noted that the arrest of ecological challenges that affect our major roads and those in the surrounding communities is one of the priorities of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad administration.

While Sympathizing with the communities, the Commissioner assured that his Ministry will expedite actions to ensure a lasting solution to control the menace.

Gambo further announced the resolve of his Ministry to Carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment to save the culverts and bridges from total collapse.

Earlier, The Caretaker Committee Chairman Alkaleri LGA,Mr Bala Mahmud applauded Governor Mohammad for his strategic objective in environmental sustainability.

Mahmud lamented the level of damages caused by flood and erosion,and called for Government intervention to prevent the community from cutting off its economic activities with other communities.

The Commissioner flood affected areas that include Putuk-Kashere and Yalo -Mansur roads and the flood menace that threatened Kurman Layi Street in Alkaleri metropolis of Alkaleri LGA.
